Pancake Sandwiches for the WIN!
Picky eater or feeding issues? Ever heard of “food chaining”? Right now I am attempting to create a chain from pancakes —>sandwiches.
It is a constant internal battle for me on how much focus should be on nutrition and how much should be on the feeding skills she needs to develop. (Nutrition still plays an important role in controlling her constipation.)
In the beginning I solely focused on nutrition to treat Rowan’s GI issues and to help her gain weight. I could feed her smoothies, juice, protein shakes, and hummus, but she needs to know how to use a fork, bite off a piece of food, tolerate sticky or hard textures without choking, eat without making a huge mess, and on and on it goes. So now I find myself food chaining my former GF/DF/low sugar child from pancakes to sandwiches! Do I want her eating a ton of sandwiches? No. Am I sick of buying hummus, yogurt, and bananas in bulk? OVER IT. For now, she is devouring these pancake PBJs for lunch and for me I feel like a genius who just cracked another code! What are your biggest successes in feeding your kids? Share all the ideas and wins, big or small!
